Student Services

Our Student Services play an important role in supporting you from application to graduation. Our staff within the services, and throughout the University, aim to help you make the most of your time at University, and to reinforce your learning, your wellbeing and your personal development.

The services include funding advice, careers and employability support, disability service, counselling and wellbeing support.

Aside from Student Services, every student is assigned a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) who will help guide you through your studies. Your PAT will normally be your main source of advice and guidance relating to your academic studies.

If you require support from Student Services you can either email:

studentservices@qmu.ac.uk

or click on the service you require below.

You may also want to visit our Student Services Reception, Open Monday-Friday from 10am-3.30pm located in Student Services in the main campus building.   Our friendly reception staff can help you with any queries and/or appointment bookings.

New students: Don't forget to register with your local GP!

If you are a student living on QMU campus or in the Musselburgh area (postcodes EH15 or EH21) please do register with Riverside Medical Practice.  Follow this link to register at Riverside Medical Practice HERE

More Information about Riverside practice, clinics and support for students can be found HERE

If you've registered at Riverside Medical Practice please note the following information:

  • To make an appointment with Riverside call 0300 790 6266 from 8am - for new health concerns only, they are currently running a same-day appointment service. Click HERE for appointment booking information.
  • Call after 10am for all other matters, including booking blood tests, booking nurse appointments (smear tests, asthma checks, diabetes checks etc) or prescription and admin queries.
  • Call the CWIC service for mental health concerns to speak to a trained practitioner, for more information on mental health support from the CWIC service click HERE

Please Note: It can be difficult to get through to the Practice first thing in the morning to book a GP appointment due to current pressures on the NHS but please persist.

If you have a health concern which you feel needs attention that day but GP appointments are fully booked, you can request an emergency assessment by one of the Practice's triage nurse practitioners, who will assess whether you need an emergency GP appointment.

Prescriptions: once you are registered with the Practice you can order repeat prescriptions or acute 'special request' medications online by clicking on the link below or order via your local pharmacy. You cannot order prescriptions by calling the Practice.
