COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Advice

Information for students, prospective students, staff and the community on the University's response to COVID-19.

Our campus is open and we have been welcoming new and returning students back for the autumn semester.

Please be reassured that the University is following guidance from Health Protection Scotland and the Scottish and UK governments. On this website, you can also read a summary on our approach to teaching and learning in the 21/22 year. You can also find our route map for a return to normal operations.

FAQs and updates for students and staff

See below for frequently asked questions (FAQs) for students and staff which reflect the current position and which we hope you will find reassuring.  Also on this website, you can find our regular coronavirus updates for students and staff.

We will continue to keep this website updated. Should there be any major changes we will inform the University community directly.

The QMU COVID inbox and other resources

We have set up a dedicated email address to answer the COVID-related questions of our students and their families: CovidHelp@qmu.ac.uk

If your question is welfare related, our Student Services team are also here to help and can offer face to face appointments if appropriate (0131 474 0000, and ask for Student Services when prompted). If you have a medical question, you can call NHS Inform on 0800 028 2816, or use the NHS web chat tool.

The Scottish Government has created a website with specific guidance for students.

SAAS has created a webpage with specific guidance for students in halls of residence.

On-campus facilities for vaccination and regular testing for students and staff

We are offering an 'LFD Collect' service on campus through which students and staff can collect lateral flow devices for testing themselves twice weekly at home.  There is also a drop-in vaccination centre operating on campus at the start of the semester.  For information see our Testing and Vaccination page.

Looking forward to the future

While COVID-19 has brought major disruption worldwide, QMU’s role in the world remains unchanged. With our focus on addressing the issues facing society through education and research, and our strong social justice ethos, we look forward to playing our part as society re-adjusts and re-calibrates beyond the pandemic.
