COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Advice

Here you will find information for students and staff on COVID-19.

While we understand that this is anxious time, please be reassured that the University is following guidance from Health Protection Scotland and the Scottish and UK governments, and that we are all set to re-open the campus in September.

At QMU we have followed well-established procedures which allow us to prepare for and respond to any scenario in the optimum way. We are committed to supporting our communities in tackling the spread of the virus.

All set for the autumn semester to start in September

We can confirm that our autumn semester will start in September and that we are all set to welcome our new and returning students. Our Induction Week will begin for most students as planned on 7th September, with teaching and learning beginning on 14th September. There are a few exceptions which you can find at our applicant FAQs. We plan a mix of on-campus and online activity (commonly referred to as blended delivery).

The current situation on campus

The University has been implementing and adapting contingency plans as appropriate, with student and staff health and wellbeing foremost in mind. Over the summer, there is restricted access to the campus, but Maggie's, our Students’ Union café, is open 7 days a week, from 10am till 5pm, along with a pop up shop.

Staff are contactable by email with most working from home. See our updates for the current status. The You can do IT at home page contains  information and links to the key resources that students and staff may require to work remotely.

We are planning for the next semester and beyond through our COVID-19 Business Recovery Planning Group. The Recovery Group’s plans allow for flexibility, and are focused firmly on ensuring the quality of the student experience and the wellbeing of staff and students.
